2017 Property Tax Protests
According to El Paso Central Appraisal District (CAD), over 40 thousand property tax protests were sent to fight the high tax values. The total value of the protests was $24 billion in 2023. In total, 5,325 houses received a reduction through Appraisal Review Board (ARB) hearings that came to $159 million. The total reduction for all types of property through the ARB resulted in $961 million.
