DallasCounty Tax Appraisal – 2021
Dallas CAD's budget in 2021 was $29 M, compared to $21 M in 2014. Spread across every taxed parcel in the county, that adds up to about $35 per parcel.
How Far Can $35 Go? Dallas CAD is unable to spend a lot of attention on each individual parcel. They make use of mass appraisal computer models, but models are never completely accurate and can have lots of errors. Even though 47% of the total market value of accounts are protested, those numbers are skewed towards larger accounts: multifamily residential properties, commercial, etc. While 95% of multifamily property owners and 65% of commercial owners protested their valuation, only 22% of homeowners did the same in 2022.
