In John County for 2023, there were 21,999 property tax protests filed and were valued at $8 billion. Among the total protests, 6,982 protests were for single family property, 81 for apartments, 1,298 for commercial, and 437 for business personal property (BPP). About 2,122 properties received a reduction through informal property tax hearings. Through the Appraisal Review Board (ARB), 7,330 protest hearings were held and 1,986 received a reduction.
