Liberty County Appraisal District 2017 Property Tax Protests
Liberty County property owners filed 12,663 tax protests in 2023 through the Central Appraisal District (CAD), and they valued $3 billion. From the total number of protests, 3,073 protests were filed for single family property, 604 for commercial property, and 172 for utilities. Property owners further protested the high tax values through the Appraisal Review Board (ARB) and 1,095 tax hearings were held. As a result, the reduction for all types of property was $21 million.
