In 2023, Midland County had 26,857 tax protests filed by property owners that were valued at $17 billion. Of the total number of protests filed in 2023, 2,871 were for residential, 250 for apartments, 1,224 for commercial, and 623 for business personal property (BPP). Property owners further filed protests through the Appraisal Review Board (ARB) and even lawsuits to fight for a greater reduction.
