The primary expense for the Fort Bend Central Appraisal District (CAD) is labor. In 2022, the district employed 136 staff members, including 63 appraisers. By 2023, the total staff increased to 169, though the number of appraisers declined to 61. With over 5,000 tax parcels per appraiser, the workload is substantial—31 appraisers focus on residential properties, while 12 handle commercial assessments.
