Nueces County Appraisal District Employee Summary – 2023

As of 2023, the primary expense of the Nueces County Appraisal District (CAD) is labor, supporting a staff of 90 employees—including 45 appraisers. Among them, 22 focus on residential properties and 8 on commercial real estate. On average, each appraiser is responsible for evaluating approximately 4,781 tax parcels annually.

Due to the high volume of properties, limited staffing, and time constraints, the appraisal process may occasionally result in inaccuracies. These can include issues with property descriptions, valuation models, comparable sales data, or assessment comparables—making some valuations eligible for appeal.
