Hays Central Appraisal District 2023 Property Tax Protest
Per the Hays Central Appraisal District (CAD), 41,496 protests were filed in 2023. The total value of those protests was $31 billion. Through Appraisal Review Board (ARB) hearings, 19,585 protests were filed. The ARB is one step further in the protest process for a fair chance at a reduction. Binding arbitration is also possible if the property owner is unsatisfied with the hearing results. About 121 binding arbitration cases were filed in 2023.
